How it All Started

A few years ago I was searching for budget friendly, fun family activity. Going out was always fun, but quickly added up in our pocketbooks. We needed something we could do at home together that wouldn't break the bank.
Enter Ohana Movie Nights! We would watch a dvd and theme our dinner to it, too. Disney films always worked - they were family friendly and plenty of them. But where to start? So many to choose from!
Enter my obsessive compulsiveness with doing things in order! We would start from the beginning of course, the letter A!
And the rest is history...

On with the A's!

As we continued on with our Disney ohana movie nights, I was pleased to find out that Alice in Wonderland was next. It's easy to do a party in this theme, especially since high tea is making a come back... we would have our own little tea party!

One of my favorite tea sandwiches is cucumber, and I happened to find a good recipe for one that was Downtown Abbey inspired. They came out delicious, and even Becca like them! But my mom was shocked to find out that I had not deseeded the cucumbers beforehand...
We had an assortment of dessert, and those little Chessmen cookies go really well with the red and black card characters in the movie. The seasoned fries got replaced last minute by a few hor d'oeuvres.  But now that I look back at my photograph, for the life of me I can't remember what those black things are on the crackers! Blackberries???...

We chose a nice decaf tea so Becca could enjoy it, too. She also had fun being the tea hostess, and was proud to be the one pouring the kettle. If you notice, we used our Japanese tea kettle set. Talk about a diverse menu!
